Self-Pity, Self-Loathing, and Self-Indulgence

The world is in an epidemic. Not of the common cold, or the flu, but of disease. The disease of self-pity, self-loathing, and self-indulgence.

We have become a society that is more concerned with what others think of us, than what God thinks of us. We are so concerned with what others think of our actions, that we neglect to consider how God might view our actions.

I have noticed that there are many people who seem to have no problems with being in relationships with others. But when it comes to their relationship with God, they have problems. It seems as if they are more concerned about what God thinks of them, than they are about what God thinks of their actions.

If you have ever had a problem with your weight, you know how difficult it can be to maintain a healthy weight. If you have ever been in a relationship where you were constantly worried about whether or not your partner loved you, you know how difficult it is to maintain a healthy relationship. If you have ever had a problem in your business, you know how difficult it often is to get ahead.

In all these situations, we are dealing with something that is a problem for us, but a non-issue for others. We have made ourselves the issue. We have made ourselves the problem. We have made ourselves the cause of our own problems.

If you want to change your life, change your thinking. Don’t look to other people to make you feel better about yourself. Look to God to make you feel better about who you are. He has given you everything you need to live a fulfilling and happy life. If you will take a few moments each day to spend time with Him, He will help you to overcome any obstacles that stand in your way.
