Synology Unveils New Enterprise Storage Solutions And Surveillance Platform At COMPUTEX 2025
At COMPUTEX 2025, Synology introduced significant advancements in enterprise storage and surveillance technology, marking a “New Chapter” in its ecosystem. The company unveiled the PAS7700, a high-performance NVMe active-active storage solution designed for critical enterprise workloads. Additionally, Synology introduced C2 Surveillance, a server-less, cloud-based video surveillance-as-a-service platform.
The PAS7700 is engineered to deliver ultra-high performance with cost efficiency, enabling enterprises to achieve primary storage-grade performance and reliability at the cost of mainstream storage. It features non-disruptive maintenance, 3-2-1-1 data protection, memory cache replication, and high-level fault tolerance, all designed to minimize downtime and enhance data security. Hardware security includes AMD Infinity Guard and multi-factor authentication. The device is slated for availability in the latter half of 2025.
Synology’s C2 Surveillance platform offers a server-less, cloud-based video surveillance-as-a-service solution. Key features include plug-and-play setup, continuous 24/7 recording with microSD storage, failover offline capabilities, and smart-scaling architecture. An AI-driven monitoring demonstration highlighted rapid setup and real-time incident detection. The platform aims to streamline surveillance management across multiple locations with Active Directory integration and role-based access controls. C2 Surveillance is expected to be available in the latter half of 2025.
In a separate development, Synology has announced plans to restrict its upcoming NAS appliances to branded hard drives. This move has sparked public outcry, with users expressing concerns over reduced flexibility and increased costs. Synology stated that this policy aims to reduce compatibility issues and increase system reliability and performance. The company confirmed that older models sold up to and including 2024 remain unchanged.
