I have always been interested in health and fitness. As a child I had a habit of reading books about diseases and their cures. I have also tried to understand how people become ill. I am very keen on learning about disease prevention and how it can be avoided. I have found that most people do not have any idea about the causes of many diseases. In this article, I will try to explain some of the basic causes of diseases.

1. Poor diet: Most people are ignorant about what they eat. They just go by what is being served at home or at work. This is not a good way of eating. You should know what you are eating and why. There are certain food groups which are essential for your body. These include proteins, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins. If you do not get all these from your diet then your body will not be able to function properly. You should make sure that you eat all the required nutrients from the food you eat.

2. Lack of exercise: Most people do not take enough exercise. They spend most of their time sitting in front of the television or playing video games. This is not good for them. It is important that you exercise regularly. The best way to exercise is to walk. Walking is one of the cheapest forms of exercise and is also the easiest. You can also do other exercises like swimming, running, cycling and jumping rope. Make sure that you exercise regularly.

3. Stress: Too much stress can lead to various illnesses. If you find that you are stressed out, then you should try to reduce your stress level. Try to find out ways to reduce your stress levels. It is important that you learn how to deal with stress.

4. Tobacco use: Smoking is one of the major causes of lung cancer. This can also cause heart disease. If you want to avoid getting sick then you should stop smoking.

5. Alcohol consumption: Excessive alcohol consumption can cause various problems. It can lead to liver damage. It can also lead to many other health problems.
