What Are Diseases?

Diseases are illnesses that affect our bodies. They can be caused by a virus, bacteria, or parasites. The body’s immune system fights off disease and heals itself when it is attacked by these microorganisms. Sometimes the body’s immune system cannot fight off disease and then we get sick. In this case, we need to seek medical care.

The immune system works by identifying foreign invaders and then attacking them. If the invaders do not leave the body, they can cause damage to the cells of the body. This damage is called inflammation. Inflammation can cause pain and swelling in joints and muscles. It can also lead to other problems like heart disease and stroke.

The body has two main types of immune systems: the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. The innate immune system is made up of cells that are found in the blood and lymphatic system. These cells are called macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells. The innate immune system does not learn from experience. Instead, it uses an army of cells to attack any invading microorganism.

The adaptive immune system is made up of lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are white blood cells that are made in the bone marrow. Some lymphocytes are T cells and B cells. The T cells help the body identify foreign invaders. The B cells help the T cells identify invaders. The T cells help the B cells make antibodies. Antibodies attach themselves to the invaders and then destroy them. When an antibody attaches itself to an invader, it becomes an antigen.

There are many different diseases that affect people today. Some of these diseases are viral, bacterial, fungal, or parasitic. Some of these diseases have been around for a long time. Others have appeared recently. Some of these diseases can be passed from person to person. Some can only be spread through contact with contaminated objects or food.

Some of these diseases are treatable. However, some of them are not. There are many ways to prevent some diseases. For example, if you catch a cold, you can take medicine to stop it from getting worse. You can also use a humidifier to keep your house from becoming too dry. You can avoid spreading the disease to others by washing your hands often and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.

It is important to remember that there is no way to completely prevent all diseases. However, there are things that you can do to protect yourself from certain diseases. Keeping your home clean and making sure that you wash your hands frequently can help you avoid many of the common diseases. If you do get sick, you will probably feel better after taking medicine.
